ComicPress & Comic Easel and WordPress 4.3

Okay, so yeah.  There *will* be a few things that will be an issue in 4.3 of WordPress, things to note:

If you don’t update Comic Easel &or ComicPress

1) You will get ‘function deprecation’ notices if you have php warnings enabled on most all widgets that come with either.

If you do update Comic Easel &or ComicPress (from the repo/github when they’re ready)

1) You will *not* get the notices

2) The class names and ID’s for the widgets will change meaning that if you have custom CSS for any widgets those will need to be redone; which includes the custom look that ComicPress has which i’m just going to strip out of ComicPress anyways.

So yeah, widgets.  Widgets will be what changes in the updates;  if your widget isn’t showing then just re-add it from the appearance -> widgets section after upgrading ComicPress &or Comic Easel.

– Phil

p.s. working on updating the widgets in both things, not done yet; will post when they’re done and how to get the new comicpress, comic-easel will update in the wordpress repo.

UPDATE: No, you will now not lose any skinning cause of the class changes to widgets, figured out that part.   So when you upgrade CE and CP you will just lose the warning messages ;/

UPDATE #2 – 5pm 08/16/2015 –  Apparently if you’re using the navigation widget you need to put it back into the under comic sidebar .. soo sorry/apologize the identifier for it changed with the new widget code

This ranking is by how popular they are on the internet compiled from statistical information from Alexa and Google rankings. Coming to Comic Easel

Oct17
by Philip M. Hofer (Frumph) on October 17, 2014 at 8:37 pm
Posted In: Comic Easel, Information

* Adding a ‘resources’ tab to the comic -> config that contains informational links for things such as webcomic lists, vendors for things like buttons and t-shirts, collective links, webcomic news sites and more; so that they can be available to webcomic authors in a quick-easy location to find if they are starting out as new comic authors or veterans.

* Adding a new default tab that will explain comic easel and add information such as sponsored by for those who have donated during that time of release and such.

* Adding tabs for companies and/or sites that want to give special prices to comic easel users or sponsor the developement.

Yes i’m monetizing with a little advertising space. No i’m not selling out to any company or corporation.

—– CODING

* Making jquery left and right arrows i.e. left and right arrows that appear over the comic when you mouse over the comic and/or something that will automatically create the buttons w/out jquery on the sides

* More lamens/easier to understand guide on how to integrate Comic Easel into other themes.

* Return of Hovertext w/graphics like the old ComicPress smiley

* Integrate more usage of the Locations taxonomy by allowing an image to be added to the description of it so that when you click on the /locations/location-slug it will display that image and description and all the comics that were at that location /comicpress only/

—– OTHER

* Contact other theme authors and help them integrate Comic Easel into their themes so there are more default comicpress themes available

* Finish ComicPress’s AND Easel’s next release

—–

This is all I can think of at the moment .. If you have something you want on the wishlist please tell me.
