The chapter ordering is now part of the plugin itself.
If you used the term order plugin that was specified before, when deactivating that term order plugin it will be necessary to deactivate comic easel and reactivate it (after removing that term order plugin)
Please report any issues.
If the chapter ordering doesn’t work for you, just deactivate->delete->reget the plugin and it will work again. (dont forget settings -> permalinks after activating the plugin)

We are brand new wordpress users and are beginning to build a new website from scratch. We have activated Comic Easel 1.0.7. Is there guide on how to use it or to explain what the different settings do?
The guides are being worked on at comiceasel.com at the moment, unfortunately to those new to WordPress it might be a little daunting. Especially if you’re building your new website from scratch. Have you decided on a theme to use?
We started with Color3, which is a free theme, but got lost quickly with making the two interface, because we didn’t understand how to add the action codes. We switched to Comic Easel so more things would happen automatically. It’s been a long day, but we’ve managed to make some headway. We got a character page and archive page set up that is pulling from information we’ve supplied in the Comic Plugin. Hopefully, tomorrow night, we’ll figure out how to attach thumbnails. I saw a post for it in the forum, but haven’t tried to apply it yet.
Thumbnails are automatically generated when you add comics as the featured image.
I promise to have some guides up soon, I’ve been doing those video tutorials and such already for migrating
Yes! We found the featured image feature. That makes the formatting look so much nicer than inserting the image into the post body. I meant the little images to go with the character biographies on the character page or of a comic page/cover to go with the archived page. http://maryelizabethssock.com/ has done an excellent job of utilizing these features and I’m grateful the site link was shared in the forum. It’s helped us get an idea of what the plugin features do. I haven’t figured out what the “Casts” section with shows and audiences does yet, but I haven’t played with it yet either.
Ah those are done with CSS, say for example your characters name is “Monkey Todd” .. and the slug is monkey-todd, well the css element to use to add the picture to the casts page is .character-monkey-todd { } so .character-monkey-todd { background: url(‘/images/bios/monkey-todd.jpg’) no-repeat; }
Oops. I typed my email address in wrong on the previous post. Time for some morning coffee!
Thanks for your help Philip! We were successful with the .character coding last night. Once I remembered I wasn’t in a CSS file and needed to add around the .character strings, our pics appeared. It was an exciting moment.
Hi Philip, Thanks so much for the Comicpress Migrating to Comic Easel video series. I did it last night & following the videos step by step you made it so easy for me. I am not very technically minded but it was a hassle free process. I don’t remember if it was mentioned in the videos but the only thing I got caught out on, & I thought I’d killed my site, was that all my comics I tried to go to showed up as “Page Not Found” I found in your troubleshooting page about the Settings > Permalinks > Save. This fixed it & it all works perfectly now.
So… from this post I am assuming I have to get rid of the term ordering plugin that I used when following the video now???
Yes I integrated the chapter ordering into the plugin itself now.
Also I didn’t have any Chapters Categories. My default Comic category was called Comics & that was the category I used in the transferring process. All my comics are now listed as being in the “Comics” chapter. Is this the way it should be or as I don’t use Chapters for storylines should it not show up like that??? If you go to my site you can see what I mean under the comic where Character & Location are listed it has “Chapter” with Comics listed as the Chapter.
That’s exactly fine, most peoples will be like that since they didn’t use chapters either, just the comics category. So make sure the posts -> category is removed after it makes the comic -> chapter, so they do not conflict anymore.
Yep I did that. Thanks once again Philip for a great easy to follow instructional video.
comiceasel.com and my forums forum.frumph.net are good places for more info too if you haven’t seen them yet.
